Today the New York City Council approved an upzoning that will bring in high-density high-rise development to the south area of Governors Island which currently serves as a unique green oasis belonging to all New Yorkers.
The upzoning proposal’s next stop is with the Mayor who give his approval.

The City’s awful rezoning approved on May 27, 2021 was not necessary to bring in a climate solutions center, but the not legally required climate center concept was necessary to sell the high rise, high density largely commercial rezoning to the public.
